Playwriting…

Meg got her start as a playwright doing sketch comedy and improv. She is passionate about telling the stories of Appalachia and exploring the complexities of womanhood in her work. She is currently an MFA candidate for Playwriting at Columbia University. Recent productions of her work include: Hi! Maintenance (Ensemble Theater of Cincinnati), Sally the Musical (Lenfest Center of the Arts), and Conservation of Matter (Schapiro Theater). In 2021 Meg won the Jackie Demaline Regional Collegiate Playwriting Competition for her play Hi! Maintenance.

    Sally is a reimagining of Jerome Kern’s forgotten 1921 musical by the same name. It examines the iconic “rags to riches” story as well as the early American musical itself.

    Hi! Maintenance follows Andy as she stumbles into adulthood. When her apartment building gets a new maintenance man she is forced to confront her relationship to her community, her outlook on love, and her fixation on the 2000s rom-com.

    Conservation of Matter delves into the lives of two individuals, each in their own timeline—one set in the 1990s and the other in the 2010s. It's a nonlinear narrative exploring institutional systems, personal growth, and a shared fascination with outer space.
